Our 23rd Annual Resourceful Women’s Awards, presented by Groff NetWorks, will be held at Franklin Plaza in Troy on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at 6PM. Purchase tickets here.
The Resourceful Women’s Awards were established in 2000 to honor women whose community and professional pursuits advance the empowerment of women, a core element of our mission to eliminate racism, empower women and promote peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.
Join us in honoring the 2023 Resourceful Woman of the Year, the Hon. Dr. Dorcey Applyrs. Dr. Applyrs has built a personal and professional life in the City of Albany devoted to improving the quality of life for residents. Serving as Albany's Chief City Auditor, Applyrs was appointed in 2020 and elected in 2021 and 2022. Prior to serving as Chief City Auditor, Applyrs served as a Councilwoman representing Albany’s First Ward. Dr. Applyrs has a doctorate and master’s degree from the SUNY Albany School of Public Health where she currently serves as a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Health Policy, Management, and Behavior. Dr. Applyrs is active in the Albany community and is affiliated with numerous boards and organizations including the Albany District Links and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated. Dr. Applyrs has been the recipient of several prestigious awards and recognitions for her community leadership and advocacy. Applyrs resides in Albany with her supportive husband, Don-Lee, and two beautiful daughters, Noble and Nile.
Please unite with us in supporting Dr. Applyrs, other community-nominated resourceful women, and YWCA-GCR through sponsorship, honorary committee membership, or attendance. Our 2023 Resourceful Women’s Awards fundraising goal is $75,000. All proceeds help to sustain, enhance, and expand the unique services and programs YWCA-GCR provides. YWCA-GCR is one of the area’s largest providers of supportive housing to both single women and women with children who would otherwise be homeless or living in substandard housing. In addition to our economic empowerment, homelessness prevention, food security services, and supportive programs, every day YWCA-GCR houses 104 women and over 50 children.
Please consider becoming a corporate or community sponsor and/or join the honorary committee for our 23rd anniversary of this empowering event. Your support will change lives and we appreciate you!
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF OUR HONOREES
